Description: The adult's forehead, crown, and nape of
neck are white with pink through the base of the feathers. The
foremost feathers on the forehead form an erectile crest which
is raised and lowered depending on the bird's temperament. The
rump, secondary wing coverts, lower abdomen and vent are a pale
gray. The face, neck and most underparts, including the underwing
coverts are rosy pink. The tail is dark gray, the bill is cream
colored and the legs are gray. The male's eyes are brown, the
female's are red. Juvenile is duller with more grey and brown
eyes.
Similar species: The Pink or Major Mitchell's Cockatoo
(C. leadbeateri) is the only cockatoo easily confused with
the Galah. It is lighter overall in color with a prominent orange
and red crest and a bright pink forehead.
