Visitors
get whisker close at the Tiger Lair exhibit |
The Minnesota Zoo has two of the largest Amur tiger exhibits
in any United States zoo. At the Tiger Lair exhibit you'll
get whisker close to tigers in their natural habitat and
learn about wild tiger conservation!
As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation and education
the Zoo has developed the Tiger Lair exhibit to help people
better understand the world of wild tigers and the threats
that they face.

At BASE CAMP you'll step into the shoes of a field
biologist in an interactive tree top exhibit. You'll see
how researchers track tigers and gather information that
will help protect these endangered cats.
You'll learn about radio
telemetry and see the
camera traps that researchers use to study animals in
thick forests.

At the TIGER LAIR you'll see eye to eye with a
tiger at a ground level viewing area with a feeding station
and heated rocks help keep the tigers close.
You can play the tiger "dating game" and learn
how zoo tigers are chosen for breeding.
Kids
will feel like real tigers in the special "cubs only"
viewing area.

Ever wonder what tigers do for fun? At the TIGER POOL
you can watch our tigers swim, play in the water, and snooze
in the shallows. You'll also learn about the importance
of animal enrichment
in zoos.
Tigers communicate with each other constantly. Learn how
they tell friend from foe, and how they say important things
like "hello" and "go away!"
