Description: Cotton-top tamarins are primates with small bodies and big hair. Their body length is 7 to 12 inches, their tail length is 10 to 17 inches, and their weight is.5 to 1.9 pounds.
Their faces are naked or only sparsely haired. The forelimbs are shorter than the hind limbs. The thumb is not opposable. All the digits bear pointed, sickle-shaped nails, except the big toe, which has a flat nail. These claws are beneficial in clinging to the sides of trees while foraging for tree sap.
