Fishing Cat

SSP Species / Near Threatened Species

Description: The fishing cat is relatively small. Head and body lengths vary from 750-860 mm. (30-34 in.). Height is 380-400 mm. (15 in.). Tail length is 250-330 mm. (10-13 in.). Weight varies from 7.7-14 Kg. (16-30 lbs.) with males being the larger animals.

Unspectacular in appearance, the fishing cat has a short coarse brown or grey coat with dark spotting roughly arranged in longitudinal stripes. They have a stocky build with medium short legs and a short muscular tail of one half to one third of their head and body length.
