How do I purchase Zoo-post?
Zoo-post is only available for pre-purchase on the website.  Online sales will close 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up date.

What type of vehicle do I need to transport Zoo-post?
If you purchase by the cubic yard, you may use any vehicle that can safely handle the weight of the Zoo-post (see “Estimated Weights & Measures”).  Trucks and trailers must have an open bed; we are not able to load vehicles with toppers, lids or other covers.

If you purchase by the 5-gallon bucket, you must provide your own buckets.  A limited number of shovels will be available for your use.  Again, be sure your vehicle is able to handle the estimated weight of the Zoo-post.

For safety reasons, the Minnesota Zoo reserves the right to limit the amount of Zoo-post loaded into your vehicle and is not responsible for damage to vehicles.

Will you load my vehicle, or do I have to do it myself?
If you purchase by the 5-gallon bucket, you will shovel and load your own Zoo-post.  If you purchase by the cubic yard, the Zoo will load your vehicle with a Skid Steer.  Trucks and trailers must have an open bed; we are not able to load vehicles with toppers, lids or other covers.  Please see “Estimated Weights & Measures” to determine that your vehicle can safely handle the weight of the Zoo-post.

For safety reasons, the Minnesota Zoo reserves the right to limit the amount of Zoo-post loaded into your vehicle and is not responsible for damage to vehicles.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of Zoo-post I must purchase?
The minimum quantity of Zoo-post you may purchase is one 5-gallon bucketful.  The maximum amount is dependent on the weight capacity of your vehicle.  See “Estimated Weights & Measures.”

Estimated Weights & Measures
A 5-gallon bucket holds approximately 1 cu ft of Zoo-post and weighs an estimated 46 lbs.  A Skid Steer bucket holds approximately ½ cu yd of Zoo-post and weighs an estimated 740 lbs.  Please make sure your vehicle is rated for the amount of Zoo-post you order.

For safety reasons, the Minnesota Zoo reserves the right to limit the amount of Zoo-post loaded into your vehicle and is not responsible for damage to vehicles.

What happens if it rains?
Scheduled pick-ups will take place rain or shine.

What should I do if I can’t make my scheduled pick-up time?
If you are unable to pick up your Zoo-post at your scheduled time, please email zoopost@mnzoo.org and we will attempt to reschedule you for another date.

Where will I pick up my Zoo-post?
The pick-up location will be in the East parking lots of the Zoo.  Watch for directional signs when you arrive.

What should I bring with me?
Please bring your email confirmation receipt as proof of purchase.  If you purchased by the 5-gallon bucket, bring the appropriate number of buckets.  There will be a limited quantity of shovels available for use.  If you purchase by the cubic yard, you will need a truck or trailer that is able to handle the weight of the compost you purchased (see “Estimated Weights & Measures”).
