Minnesota used to have the most lynx in the Great Lakes region, but numbers dropped to near zero in the 1980s. Only recently have we seen signs of recovery, but as our climate changes lynx may move further north and out of our state altogether.
The Minnesota Zoo has funded the purchase of GPS collars for a study investigating lynx distribution in Minnesota, habitat use, and behavior; one of our staff participated in the project personally. The Zoo’s 18-year-old male lynx and a younger breeding pair are the favorites of many guests to our Minnesota Trail.
Your gift will help us provide quality care for our lynx and for all of the amazing animals at the Minnesota Zoo, while also continuing our conservation efforts here at home and around the world.
