We’ve all been waiting for them, and they’re finally here! 

Please welcome the newest addition to the Minnesota Zoo: adorable black-footed penguins who are now at home in the new 3M Penguins of the African Coast exhibit, opening on July 9.

Scientists consider black-footed penguins (also known as African penguins) to be vulnerable to extinction; in the last 50 years, their population has dropped 80 percent. The three greatest threats are oil spills and leaks, human disturbance on breeding beaches, and over-fishing. 

Your gift will help us provide the best possible care for our penguins and for all the animals at the Minnesota Zoo, while also continuing our conservation efforts both here at home and around the world.
