How to Register

Registration Button

To register online, click the Register Online button or complete the School Field Trip 2012-2013 Request Form and return it to us.

  • Register by phone at 952-431-9218
  • Home School families click on the Request Form to schedule.

Once your request has been processed, you will receive a confirmation by email within 10 days to confirm your date.

 

 



Zoo Classes

Up-close and personal live animal encounters and hands-on activities await! These 45-minute interactive classes are fun and engaging and provide a great opportunity to reinforce standard-based concepts being exploreded in your curriculum. Topics range from tropical rainforests to animal adaptations to ocean conservation. View a complete list of age-appropriate classes and the Minnesota state standards they support below.

These classes for 25-30 students are offered Monday–Friday and are available September to May 3.

Fee $3.00 per student ($36 minimum), chaperones free plus applicable admission.

K–1st GRADE PROGRAMS

Marine Metropolis (grades K-1)
They are called the rain forests of the sea because coral reefs harbor the greatest diversity of life in the ocean. We’ll navigate these underwater “cities” and explore the variety of life under the sea.

Web of Life (grades K-1)
What determines if something is living or non-living? We will sort out the answer.

Penguin Palooza (grades K-1)
Come learn more about this guest of honor, penguins, in this fun class.

Life on the Farm (grade 1)
Come experience life on a farm first-hand to answer such questions as “who and what lives and grows on a farm?"

Life on the Farm (grade 2)
Come meet the residents of the Wells Fargo Family Farm as we learn what farm animals look, feel, sound and even smell like!

Recipe for a Rainforest (grades 2-3)
From the forest floor to the canopy and beyond, many unique and interesting plants can be found here and nowhere else. Although usually well-camouflaged, we’ll also uncover some of the amazing animals that call these plants home.

Animal Classifieds (grade 3)
Know that living things can be sorted into groups in many ways according to their varied characteristics, structures, and behaviors.

Animal Heirs (grade 3)
What factors contribute to our uniqueness and how do we acquire them?

Beyond the Menagerie
Zoos are more than a mere collection of animals! They have evolved into immersive experiences, education centers and conservation havens for endangered species. Learn how zoos continue to evolve.

Bouncing Back/ZooQuest (90-minute class includes monorail - additional $3 monorail fee applies)
Bison, bluebirds, pronghorn, wild turkey, wood duck, and trumpeter swans! Meet these Northern Trail animals that have made a dramatic comeback from the edge of extinction.

Furry History of Minnesota/ZooQuest (90-minute class includes monorail - additional $3 monorail fee applies)
What was it like to be a “Voyageur” in Minnesota 200 years ago? Develop an understanding of the relationships between animals and humans as you go back in time with a naturalist in historical costume.

Nature vs Nurture
What influences an animal’s behavior? Animal observation will be done using various sampling methods.

Vanishing Animals
How can researchers predict whether or not an animal is in danger of extinction? We'll learn about the characteristics that researchers look for, and talk about the role that zoo's play in the conservation of endangered species.
