The Minnesota Zoo is a great venue for special occasions, weddings, picnics, corporate activities, and more. In addition, the Zoo plans an average of 12 public events a year. The sales and special events department manages all of the details for these events including working with all areas of the Zoo and coordinating with clients, corporations, and catering staff.
Approximately 10 -14 weeks; up to 40 hours per week, including weekends, weekdays and some evenings.
You will gain hands-on experience in:
- Event sales and client interaction
- Pre-event planning and post-event analysis
- On-site event coordination, including picnics, corporate events, special events, weddings, and periodic off-site promotional events
- Database management
- Event planning software
You will also have the opportunity to cross-train with the marketing and communication departments as well as perform additional general office duties.
