Minnesota Zoo's BioDiscovery Project
Did you know the Minnesota Zoo is seated on 485 acres of property, over half of which is undeveloped wildlife habitat? The BioDiscovery project aims to document the wildlife living on Zoo property through field surveys and conservation research. We even identified some regionally rarer habitats, such as vernal pools, sedge meadows and northern rich fens.

Minnesota moose populations have declined precipitously over the past decade, and Minnesota Zoo scientists are heavily involved in investigating possible causes of the decline. Since 40% of adult moose deaths are health-related, part of the Zoo's research seeks to understand where and when parasite occurs between deer and moose in northeastern Minnesota. We are seeking assistance in helping to collect samples in northeastern Minnesota. If you or someone you know is interested, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
