Minnesota Zoo Co-Sponsors DR. Jane Goodall Event
Dr. Goodall to appear at Beth El Synagogue in St. Louis Park on April 19; Lecture Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Pioneering Chimpanzee Research

Please direct media inquires to Gil Mann @ 612.275.0990.

Apple Valley, MINN – April 12, 2010 – World-renowned primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace Dr. Jane Goodall will speak at an event, cosponsored by the Minnesota Zoo, on Monday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Beth El Synagogue in St. Louis Park. Her lecture, and the private reception that precedes it, are part of a global tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of her pioneering chimpanzee behavioral research in Africa and her inspiring vision.

In her lecture, Dr. Goodall will reflect-both personally and professionally-on the meaning of the past five decades, the extraordinary changes the world has seen since 1960, and the impact these changes have had on people, animals and the environment we all share. In addition, she will convey her reason for hope in these complex times, discuss the role we must all play over the next 50 years to ensure a better future for generations to come, and encourage everyone to make a difference, every day.

“Dr. Goodall travels the globe more than 300 days a year and receives far more speaking engagements than she can accept, so we are especially honored to have her join us in the Twin Cities,” said Minnesota Zoo Director/CEO Lee Ehmke.

Dr. Goodall will sign books following her presentation; her books as well as JGI merchandise and memberships will be for sale onsite. For tickets to hear the woman described by The Los Angeles Times as “The Einstein of behavioral science” or to attend the private reception where she will be present, please visit bethelsynagogue.org/jane or call 952.920.3512.

About Gombe 50
2010 marks a monumental milestone for the Jane Goodall Institute and its founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE. Fifty years ago, Goodall, who is today a world-renowned primatologist, conservationist and UN Messenger of Peace, first set foot on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, in what is now Tanzania’s Gombe National Park. The chimpanzee behavioral research she pioneered there has produced a wealth of scientific discovery, and her vision has expanded into a global mission to empower people to make a difference for all living things.
