Apple Valley, MN – January 31, 2013 – The Minnesota Zoo is excited to host its very first Google+ Virtual Field Trip, a new interactive program designed by Google+ Hangouts to help bring science and educational facilities into communities everywhere.

During the Minnesota Zoo’s first Google+ Virtual Field Trip, Zookeeper Cathy Schlegel will discuss how zoos work and will showcase a few of our animals up close. She will also talk about some of the many daily activities she and the other zookeepers do on a daily basis, as well as the role of accredited zoos and aquariums in worldwide conservation efforts. “We are really excited to use this new social media tool to connect and engage with more people,” said Josh Le, Minnesota Zoo social media and marketing coordinator. “It is really cool that we will even have a third grade class from Roosevelt Elementary School in Illinois!”

This approximately 30 minute long talk will be broadcast LIVE on the Minnesota Zoo’s Google+ Fan Page and will be available afterwards for viewing on their YouTube channel.

Date: Today, January 31, 2013
