The Aveda Butterfly Garden Returns to the Minnesota Zoo Apple Valley, MINN – June 13, 2013: – The butterflies of North America have fluttered back to the Minnesota Zoo and are better than ever! The Zoo welcomes more than 40 different species of butterflies and moths beginning Saturday, June 15 at the Aveda Butterfly Garden, located at the end of the Tropics Trail. Hundreds of butterflies and moths will enjoy living in a beautiful environment that includes a small stream and a diversity of plants. This interactive exhibit demonstrates their life cycles, including stages as a caterpillar, chrysalis or cocoon, and adult. Zoo staff and volunteers will explain various activities including pollination, mating, and egg-laying. The Minnesota Zoo is located in Apple Valley, just minutes south of Mall of America.
