Minnesota Zoo Animals To Receive Egg Treat Enrichment
Apple Valley, MINN – April 21, 2011 – Some lucky Minnesota Zoo animals like sea otters and Amur leopards will receive egg/egg-shaped treat enrichment inside their exhibit tomorrow – Friday, April 22, 2011 – beginning at 9 a.m. Come out early and enjoy watching the animals take part in their own animal egg hunt. This fun form of enrichment will include "frozen eggs" for the sea otters and boomer ball eggs for the Amur leopards. Zookeepers provide different types of enrichment to stimulate all of the senses and encourage a wide range of natural behaviors. Categories of enrichment include food & feeding, sensory, novel objects, environmental as well as behavioral & social. Guests visiting the Minnesota Zoo over the weekend can see animals receive eggs inside their exhibits beginning at 9 a.m. The Minnesota Zoo is located in Apple Valley, just minutes south of Mall of America.
