Minnesota Zoo Launches "Fish of the Month" Apple Valley, MN – April 4, 2012 – The Minnesota Zoo is excited to announce that it has officially launched its Fish Smart “Fish of the Month” program with Whole Foods Market. A component of the Fish Smart program, “Fish of the Month” is designed to empower consumers to go to the market and buy sustainable seafood to enjoy at home. Whole Foods Market will carry each monthly selection at their stores throughout Minnesota, and fish experts at those locations will answer questions about sustainability and fish preparation. Fish Smart, designed to raise public awareness of sustainable seafood, partners with the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program and the Shedd Aquarium’s Right Bites program, along with local Twin Cities chefs who have committed to serving only sustainably-caught seafood including The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Sea Change, Masu Sushi and Robata, Meritage, Heidi’s, Lancer Catering, Luci Ancora, Ristorante Luci, & Butcher and the Boar. As part of the “Fish of the Month” program, each local partner chef will share their preparations of each monthly selection.
