Minnesota Zoo Announces 2011 Photo Contest Winners
Apple Valley, MINN – October 7, 2011 – The Minnesota Zoo received over 1,600 entries for its 2011 Photo Contest, sponsored by National Camera Exchange. Photographers of all skills and ages were invited to submit their Zoo photos in the Zoo’s 2nd annual Photo Contest for a chance to win a new camera and more! The Zoo’s 2011 Photo Contest was exclusively digital; all photos were submitted to the Zoo’s Flickr site at flickr.com/groups/MNZooContest11. A panel of Zoo judges chose the top 10 photos per category and posted them to their Facebook page. It was a close race as Facebook fans voted on their favorites: photos receiving the most “likes” won each category. National Camera Exchange chose the grand prize winner out of the top Facebook winners. Grand Prize Winner: “Sea Dragon” by Jordan Bartlett, who won the grand prize of a Nikon D3000 SLR camera – Nikon’s friendliest D-SLR ever! Category Winners: Thanks to National Camera Exchange, category contest winners receive a Nikon Coolpix S3100 Kit. The Kids’ Category winner receives a complimentary week at Minnesota Zoo Camp in 2012. Winning photos will be displayed on walls throughout the Zoo, National Camera Exchange stores, and on both organizations’ websites. The Minnesota Zoo is located in Apple Valley, just minutes south of Mall of America. For more information, call 952.431.9500 or visit mnzoo.org.
